I never seem to mind the coming of Fall. Although I love the summer, I also love the fall. I think I'm happy in all the seasons. Winter is a time of reflection and hibernation for me. That's the time when I am forced to spend more time indoors taking care of business. And, I really don't mind that. It has been an extraordinary summer, though. I've had a couple of regional trips, went to a few music festivals, wrote a lot of music and memoirs and thoroughly enjoyed my new home and gardens. It is so peaceful here. Sometimes I just sit quietly taking in the sounds around me, the wide variety of birds and bugs during the day and the owls, crickets and other wildlife at night. I have a porch swing that is no longer on a porch but in a homemade stand in the front yard. I often sit there and write ... or just listen. It feels like heaven. The weather is gorgeous, warm during the days and cool at night. The garden is still producing food and flowers, and the leaves are beginning to change. My herbs are hanging from the loft drying for winter, and I've made Apple Cider Vinegar, Applesauce and Elderberry Syrup. The tomatoes are next. As the weather gets cooler, my thoughts turn to organizing my life for my hibernation phase, making sure my work space is functional and my personal space is cozy.
Now, I am back to my full-time work again with a better schedule and some of my work closer to home. I don't mind the full schedule either since I truly love my work. How could I mind singing and dancing with children birth through 4 with their adults, holding babies and getting lots of hugs at the end of each class? And, I even get paid for this. I'm also starting a guitar class for adults who are already enrolled in a class with their children. It just adds to the whole concept of teaching families to be musical at home. Having grown up surrounded by music, I know firsthand how wonderful that is and am so happy to be sharing it. So what's next for me musically? Last winter I wrote a song entitled "In Winter" that is begging for a music video. Hopefully, that's the next project. It's been thought about for almost a year now and some filming of winter scenes happened at the end of winter, just before the snow disappeared. Now it's time to get back to work. I've never done a music video before, so it's definitely another learning curve, but I have professional help and am very excited about it. Hopefully, now that the weather is getting cooler, I will also get back to writing here and will keep you up to date on its progress. Meanwhile, as always, thanks for all of your support.
