t=Deb Cavanaugh and Dandelion Wine has been described as a psychedelic folk band. With acoustic instruments mountain dulcimer, guitar, upright bass and others, they play a blend of captivating original music and unusual covers. Influences include The Grateful Dead, Billie Holiday, Motown, jazz, blues, traditional folk and everything in between. Deb was voted Favorite Folk Artist at the 2022 Listen Up Awards in Albany, NY. The band has been showcased on WMHT’s A House for Arts and performed at Nipperfest and GemFest in the summer of 2023. They also performed at The Linda in Albany, NY and did sold out shows at Caffe Lena for the Little Folks concert series in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Dandelion Wine is loved by all ages.
The recipe for Dandelion Wine, like all good recipes, is ever-changing depending on the venue and the ingredients available. It can be a duo, trio or a full band with special guests from time to time. The core group is:
Deb Cavanaugh (lead vocals, electric mountain dulcimer and guitar), self-declared "road scholar," has been performing since she was a young teen, singing classical, blues and jazz, including singing in a choir directed by Duke Ellington when she was 15. After many years of playing in rock & roll bands then moving into the traditional folk and singer-songwriter scene, she has gone back to her "first love" fronting an intoxicating, unique band playing a mix of mostly originals with rock and roots covers sprinkled in.
Jared Carrozza (bass), Jared writes: “I have fond memories of my mom putting the vinyl on the platter. Those early Supremes and Stevie Wonder records made me dance uncontrollably, for hours— seemed like hours, anyway. Trombone in the 4th grade, loved doing slides. In 2002, I decided to play electric bass. I wanted to be part of the engine room in music, the movement with drums to make people dance. Music is a way of life for me. “Musical Gypsy” if there is such a thing. My journey continues into another chapter with Deb Cavanaugh and Dandelion Wine. To think Deb fished me out of a Facebook classified ad is astounding, who would've known we'd hit if off so well?”
Cover Songs: Norwegian Wood (Beatles), Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (Beatles), Wish You Were here (Pink Floyd), Electric Avenue (Eddie Grant), Psycho Killer (Talking Heads), Ain't No Sunshine (Bill Withers), Ode to Billie Joe (Bobbie Gentry), Summertime (George Gershwin), Summer Breeze (Seals and Crofts), Summer in the City (Lovin' Spoonful), You Know I'm No Good (Amy Winehouse) and many more.

This year, we've been working on a new CD full of original songs. In addition to the originals, we've recorded "Electric Avenue" by Eddy Grant and (by popular request) "Summertime" by George Gershwin. We are continually learning new songs, including brand new originals and are enjoying playing shows for young and old.
